Product Overview
The goal of this study on Presbyterian doctrine and beliefs is to develop an understanding of the scriptural and Reformed theological understandings of baptism.
Baptism is the foundation for our participation in every aspect of the church's ministry: from the activities of ordained officers (deacons, elders, and pastors); to any vocation that serves the glory of God and the good of God's people; to each member's regular involvement in public worship and attention to daily prayer; to everyday acts of kindness and compassion in Christ's name.
In this study we turn our attention to the historical practices--and controversies--surrounding baptism ("baptism" vs. "christening," and the practice of baptizing children vs. adults).
Some of the most common practical and spiritual questions about baptism are also addressed, such as: Can anyone be baptized? Do non-Presbyterians need to be baptized when joining the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)? Can a person who is not baptized be saved?
