Product Overview
In this three-session study we will explore what each testament tells us about God, and we'll focus in on how the church has spoken of God through its creeds and confessions. In the Old Testament, we will look for what God does in creation and with God's people, centering on these attributes of God: the one God who reveals, the covenant God who relates to people, and the loving God who responds to human needs. We'll also explore how God continued to confront us and call us in the New Testament. In addition to these Holy Scriptures, our primary resource for knowing God, we turn to what the church has said about God over the centuries. In the Book of Confessions we find a breadth of statements dating back to the Nicene Creed (312 CE) and up to the Brief Statement of Faith, adopted by the denomination in 1991. When we look at the confessions and the biblical texts together there is a wealth of material to digest and ponder as we seek to come to a clearer understanding of who God is and how we relate to God.
