예수님은 삼위일체의 한 위격으로서 온전한 하나님이셨지만, 이 땅을 거니셨을 때에는 우리와 같이 연약한 인간의 몸을 입고 사셨기에 사탄의 시험이 결코 만만치는 않았을 것입니다. 하지만 예수님은 사탄의 시험을 온전히 이겨내셨습니다. 배가 고팠지만, 고난의 길을 피하고 싶었지만 하나님의 뜻을 이루기 위해 육신이 원하는 것을 절제하셨습니다. 우리는 예수님께서 이렇게 절제하실 수 있었던 이유가 말씀과 성령으로 충만하셨기 때문임을 성경을 통해 잘 알고 있습니다. 이번 사순절 동안, 우리 모두 성령님을 의지하면서 매일 절제에 관한 귀한 말씀들을 읽고 묵상하고 실천하는 가운데 풍성한 절제의 열매로 하나님께 영광돌릴 수 있기를 바라며 축복합니다.
Jesus, as the one divine being in the Trinity, was fully God, but when He walked this Earth, He took on the frailty of a human body like ours. Therefore, the temptations from Satan would not have been easy to withstand. However, Jesus completely triumphed over Satan's temptations. Even though He was hungry and could have avoided the path of suffering, He restrained His fleshly desires to fulfill God's will. We know from the Bible that Jesus was able to do this because He was filled with the Word and the Holy Spirit. During this Lenten season, may we all rely on the Holy Spirit as we read, meditate on, and practice the precious words regarding self-discipline daily. Through this, may we bear abundant fruits of self-control and give glory to God. Blessings to you.
