Written that You Might Believe
The Spring Quarter (March 2027—May 2027)
This quarter is a survey of the Gospel of John. John uses rich imagery and metaphors to testify to the truth of who Jesus is—he is the Son of God, the Messiah. Following the Easter narrative, the lessons in this quarter begin with John’s Prologue, followed by John the Baptist’s testimony about Jesus, and the Fourth Gospel’s record of Jesus’s journey to the cross and the empty tomb. In Unit II, we study some of the “signs” Jesus performed and the reactions they engendered. From there, we move to Unit III to review the proclamations Jesus made through his “I am” statements and his promises of power and peace to those who believe and follow.
Unit I, "Stories of the Saving Christ”
Unit II, “Signs and Miracles”
Unit III, “Christ’s Proclamations, Promises, Power, and Peace”

Series Description
The Present Word is an in-depth Bible study for adults that dives deep into God’s Word, studying the Bible over a six-year period and focusing on a specific theme each quarter. Adults read the Participant Book lesson during the week, and a no-prep Leader’s Guide provides instructions to lead a 45-minute session. Worship leaflets are also available to wrap the session in prayer and song. Designed by an ecumenical collaborative so that participants in multiple denominations are studying the same passages together, the goals of The Present Word curriculum are to engage in a serious study of Scripture in order to discover its deeper meaning and how it is relevant to our world today.
