Whether undertaken as a spiritual exercise, an act of devotion, or a learning experience, pilgrimage is a powerful journey that leads us through unknown territory and exquisite landscapes and sometimes challenges to a place of divine-human encounter and spiritual transformation. It is the essence of Christian discipleship.
Deeply religious people are always on a journey, exploring pathways and sacred places in their quest to draw closer to God. It began some four thousand years ago, when Abraham left Ur seeking the presence of God in the desert--and it continues today.
In this one-session study participants will learn about Christian pilgrimage and how to take a pilgrimage without having to leave one's community. The Leader's Guide helps the facilitator plan for a pilgrimage during the session.
