Carolyn B. Helsel is the Associate Professor in the Blair Monie Distinguished Chair of Homiletics at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Prior to joining the faculty in 2015, she served as a transitional pastor for the Presbyterian Church in Sudbury, Massachusetts, and as a visiting professor at both the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry and Wartburg Theological Seminary. She is the author of Anxious to Talk about It: Helping White Christians Talk Faithfully about Racism and Preaching about Racism: A Guide for Faith Leaders. Together, both books earned the Association of Parish Clergy's 2019 Book(s) of the Year Award. She is also the coauthor with Y. Joy Harris-Smith of The ABCs of Diversity: Helping Kids (and Ourselves!) Embrace Our Differences and with Song-Mi Suzie Park of The Flawed Family of God: Stories about the Imperfect Families in Genesis.
