Worship is at the heart of the life of the church and so determines its vitality. Because it is rooted in the basic human need for God, worship also activates the full expression of our humanity. Howard Rice explains in Maintenance of Diving Worship, "When we worship, we can be truly honest because worship is a means of grace in which we act out the meaning of our salvation. it is a means by whick we apprehend the grace that makes us whole and brings us glimpses of the eternal life, which begings in hte here and now and lasts into eternity."
